Falls in ambulatory settings rarely occur during high-acuity moments. Risk more often emerges during routine clinic activities—standing from a chair, stepping onto a scale or moving through a hallway—where subtle environmental and patient factors can be easily overlooked.

The Falls: Ambulatory virtual simulation focuses on these everyday scenarios.

Learners observe a patient navigating a clinic environment and are asked to identify risks, anticipate potential outcomes and make prevention-focused decisions. The emphasis is on situational awareness and clinical judgment rather than physical mobility tasks.

By highlighting common environmental contributors and key decision points, the module reinforces how small, timely actions can meaningfully reduce fall risk. Immediate feedback links learner choices to safer practice, supporting falls prevention in settings where risk is often underestimated.

This four- to five-minute experience is available through the Learning Management System and the Clinical Simulation website.
